Today we are discussing how to run a successful online business and the first point that we’re going to start with is that you need to start with a conversion optimized website. This is very obvious, if I might add, because if you’re going to start any business, then you need to have a place, a location, centralized and ready where you can meet with clients or customers and you can make a sale. Clients or customers can become clients or customers and hand you their hard earned money. The reason why we start with the Conversion optimized website is because I am going to assume, and faithfully so, that you already have a product or service that you would like to offer. Now let’s just talk about products and services that you could offer for two or so minutes. The simple way of looking at business is quite like this. You offer a product or a service to a client or customer at a higher price than it costs you to offer it. Otherwise otherwise you’re a nonprofit or you’re going with a business and you’re going to business real fast. All right? So there are special cases to that, like loss leaders and everything. We can learn more about that in future episodes. Some ideas for you to consider is consultation. So you can become an online consultant. If you’re an expert in some field you have experienced, you’ve achieved results, you’ve helped many people, and you can help many more. Online Consultant if you have expertise in another field, you can start a blog, start a podcast, start a YouTube channel, start an email list, get that information out there to the people that are looking for it, charge them a monthly fee to get that information. Sell them on a consultation if they need more specific advice and one on one help from you. And that would be not only your consultant. So that’s how you can do your consultancy practice, but that’s also how you can monetize your information and experience. And that can be anything. It can be cooking, it can be the best places to visit when you go to Italy for a vacation, it can be learning languages, it can be software, it can be helping entrepreneurs make money from their business and live their dream life. That’s what we do at Zelan. And it can be anything in between. Remember, it pays to be an expert. So if you’re an expert in something that is marketable, that means it adds value to someone’s life and they are willing to pay for it, then you can go that route. Another way is that you can do ecommerce, drop shipping. We won’t talk too much about that because it’s pretty much out there. In future episodes, we’ll look more at that, and those are business ideas. Now, the reason why you start with a convergent optimized website is because you do need to have a place where your clients, customers, leads, prospects, and everyone in between gathers. And the reason why I say that is because everyone will go through what’s called the sales cycle, where eventually, at first, there might just be someone interested in your business or service, to someone who is a prospect, to a lead to a client and a repeat client, and someone that’s referring friends and family to your business. And they’re going to go through different IDs, identities, mind you, or categories that would be necessary for you to keep in contact with them. We’ve looked at the idea of a conversion optimized website in, I believe it’s episode four and episode three. I will briefly touch on that though. Conversion optimized websites are websites that are optimized for conversion. Wow. Right now, conversions are simply someone going to your website and taking the action that you want them to take. You are a consultant. They go to your website, they pay for a consultation. You are an expert in your field. You’ve written a book, they sign up to your email list, they purchase your book, or they even become a part of your wait list for your next book. Even reading a blog can be considered a conversion, but you’re going to want to go for something a little bit more unique, because the idea of a conversion is that it brings some value to your business. While having your blog where it does bring value, there is not much that you will earn from someone within your blog. Even with Google AdSense, we’ve looked at a conversion optimized website. So that’s how you can get it done for yourself. You can hire us, you can be for yourself. You can also go to Fiverr or Upwork or Freelancer.com or any other freelance marketplace online. Hire someone to develop a website. The problem with this strategy, though, is that when you hire someone, they are web development experts and most times nothing more. That means that they will build you an awesome website, but in terms of its marketability and its ability to make money for your business, they will be severely lacking. Next point. Prioritize email we’ve looked at yes, I’m smiling right now. So some statistics to consider when it comes down to email marketing is that for every $1 you spend on email marketing, you are expected to get $44 in return. That’s your ROI. Return on investment and return on investment, like we explained in episode four, is simply you put in this amount, how much are you supposed to get on that investment? And another one, this one is amazing. Mind you, segmented emails, email campaigns cause a 760% increase in revenue and that’s by campaign monitor. The statistic about a dollar in $44 out is from coffee blogger and click through rates. Now this is amazing because a click through rate is basically you send an email to your email list, it’s red, and they actually follow through and go into the offer that’s contained in the email by UKG. Statistic by UKG says that click through rates can increase by 96% 96% in emails that include video and just a success story with this very small success story. They’ll added a gift of their laptop. They’ll develop a laptop with the ability to convert to a tablet, and they wanted their clients or they wanted their customers and prospects to visually understand what that meant. What Dell did is that in the email list sent, they added a gift of the laptop folding into a tablet. And that increased their revenue, increased their conversions by like 90%. Another statistic, it’s not really a statistic because they didn’t give a number, but Kingstar says that email campaigns, specifically email newsletters, are best at securing and nurturing leads. And there are so many more statistics, there are even success stories. For example, QIS packaging increased their ROI to 830% just by using email. And Dell, just by using a gift with their XPS Twelve Convertible Ultrabook that I was telling you about accelerated their revenue by 109%. Episode four of Online Business Systems because in episode four, what we did is we looked at the most profitable digital marketing media available to you today and decades ago, mind you, and that’s email marketing. We went into the nitty gritty. That means the statistics, how to get email set up for your company. Some companies that have successfully used email, including statistics and research and everything, we went into a deep dive over 45 minutes long. You would like to take a look at that? So that’s it for email marketing. We started with a website, and by the way, conversion optimized website. Back in the day, like we did in episode one of Online Business Systems, we looked at the statistics. Back in the day, whenever you wanted something, you would ask your friend or your family, where do I go to get this? Who do I speak to? What price? Now, only 23% of people are pretty much having face to face interactions regarding a new product or service. What they’re doing is, are your business. What they’re doing is that 55% of them are going online. And even when they learn about your business, only 17, one seven, only 17% are talking about you and WhatsApp? And Instagram, that means that only 17% of people who learn about your business are talking to friends and family. Because Instagram and WhatsApp are pretty much SMS, a lot of times, personal interactions, only 17% of people are having interactions with close friends and family regarding your new business. 57% of them, though, are checking your website. They are checking social media. They’re checking for online reviews and testimonials. No, we understand why we start with a conversion optimized business because that’s where it is. Like, imagine 55% of the people in your target market. Let’s say there are a million people searching for your service. 550,000 of those people are searching online for your business, product or service, right? So you want to be online at first, know that you’re online, you’re getting a bit of traffic, your website is there. It’s optimized for conversion. You want to grow your email list. And the statistic is that 40% of marketers measure the success of their marketing strategy and campaign by looking at how well email converts. And we looked at that in episode four again. So we’re not going to go there all over again, right? We’ve had the website, we have email. What do we do next? We’ve looked at number two prioritize email looking at number three, which ties into our most recent ad or sponsorship. Post content regularly, that is, blog, YouTube, social media, ETCA. And the reason why we say to post content regularly is that we don’t expect you to be the experts, right? We don’t expect you to know what works on Facebook versus what works on Instagram or LinkedIn or Twitter or TikTok for that matter. Instead, what we expect you to do is to know what clients need, what clients love, what your customers are struggling with, and what you can help them with. Remember we said that at the start of the episode that business is very simple. It is offering a product or service or solving a problem while charging a price to your client or customer that is higher than it costs you to solve their problem or offer the product or service. It simply means that by putting your information out there. People who want your product or service will be people no longer. They will become prospects because they’ve come across your content. They are very interested in the solution you have to offer. No gimmicks, no around the corners, no tricks, no gurus in lamborghinis in a garage, just straight up help solutions, valuable content that does two things first, it attracts them by saying to them I can help you solve this problem. And also builds a relationship with them by saying this is how you solve the problem. I am the expert. Let me guide you by providing free information. You might be wondering I can’t give away information for free because if I give it away for free, I won’t be able to charge and I’ll go to business. I’ll concede a monster. Because what you’ll realize happen is that when you put the information out there it’s positioning you as a thought leader and industry authority and a person who can be trusted to help them solve this problem. And that is who they’ll spend their money with, the person they know, love and trust. We talk about blogging, YouTube, social media. What I will say is choose one media. So if you’re good with your mouth, you’re good talking, you’re able to think on the spot, think of ideas. Go ahead and do a podcast. You can go ahead and do YouTube streams and get the information out there. If you are more of a writer, please start your blog and on your Conversion optimized website and you’ll find a tutorial on our YouTube channel. You can start a blog and it’s as simple as a few clicks and start writing. If you are more design oriented, more for presentations, outlines, catcher, graphics and everything, then social media might be the way for you. And I would say that start with TikTok because this is the one that’s going to give you the most organic reach. Meaning that whenever you post something on TikTok, more people will see than on any other platform. And that’s happening right now. I don’t know what will be happening in the next year or two. It is still about January 1 or two there. But when this episode goes live 2023 post Content the type of content that you post is going to be content that does a few things. It solves a problem for your ideal client or customer. It teaches them about it. It positions you as the authority. So you’re giving them the answer. You become the authority. It builds a relationship with them where they have a more personal relationship. They know you a bit better than just a guy that runs XYZ Agency, right? And then from there they will be more comfortable doing business with you. So that’s .3 post content regularly. You can use a blog, you can use YouTube, you can use social media. All right. The thing that I want to put out there though is that whenever you post content, always ask for some kind of action. Now in this episode alone, I’ve run two promotions from our company and that is because I want to show you that our company can help you instead of you having to figure all this out. It’s not me being sleazy or trying to force my service down your throat and the reason is because there will be people listening and watching who say that we need this, I need this, but I don’t want to do it myself. By providing them with a call to action as it’s called in marketing that says all right, give us a call here, set up a consultation here, do business with us. By going here, you’re giving your product or service to those who need it most and those who are unwilling or unable to pay for it from you will find the rest of the information helpful, that is do it yourself first. Right, we have the website, we have email, we have content. Traffic is being poured in. So for .4, what you need to do is get a system to convert website visitors that is coming from your blog or YouTube or your social media or your podcast. Assist them to convert website of visitors to leads to interested prospects, to clients and repeat clients or customers that refer your business to friends and family. And I’m going to tell you how to do this. This isn’t something that you’re going to find very often online. In episode three, we talked about marketing strategies that you can start using in your business today. No, it was episode two when we looked at the online business system, we looked at the marketing strategy that you can start using today in your business to start getting more revenues and clients and sales and all the good stuff. Touching back on that again, you’ve been creating content. Your content is now funneling people to your conversion optimized website. On your conversion optimized website you have your email list integrated which is zero two website is zero one. Content is zero 3.4 is staying connected. All, here’s how you’re going to connect it in your content. You are going to post a link to your website. It could be in your blog, it could be social media, it could be in your podcast. Like I keep telling you, go to selling.com. Wherever it is that you’re posting content, do ask the prospects that are viewing your content or the users or the followers that are viewing your content and interacting with your content. Do ask them to go to your website. Go to your website and become a part of your online community. Join your email list, subscribe for even more information, exclusive information, something of value that is worth subscribing for and oftentimes worth paying for. All right, so your content is now funneling traffic from social media, from YouTube, from your blog, to your website. And I know that your blog could be on your website, but we’re not going to get too technical on your website. You’re going to have what’s called a lead magnet. Now, what is a lead magnet? A lead magnet is simply something you offer, something of value that you offer to your website visitors, in this case in exchange for their email addresses. That will be, for example, a free consultation worth $1,000 with the Zelen team for us to sit down for 30 minutes, just 30 minutes of your time, explaining to you what it is that you’re doing wrong in your business. After you’ve explained to us what is going wrong and we give you actionable tips, it’s for free. Normally it’s $1,000, but ten people or ten leads, ten prospects are going to get it for free. Have someone from your company head over, take a look at what’s wrong and guide the prospect accordingly. So you have the website, you have the email that is email list that is now being grown from your content. That is one, two and three. Website is 0.1. Conversion optimized website, email list is zero two. Posting content regularly to get traffic is zero three and zero four is pan it all together. Your email list is growing in your email list. You are going to send once per week an email to your entire list telling them what is happening in your business, what’s new, what’s happening that’s interesting or scary or fun or exciting, what you plan to do in the next few weeks. Something that offers value to them. A solution for a problem they might have answering frequently asked questions. Send more value in your email list than you put out there because your email list is the most valuable. Remember when we looked at email, we said that you put in a dollar, you’re supposed to get back $44. And the reason why I’m not stuck on an island with that is because if you’re selling a product for $10,000, then you might find that you’re getting more than $44. When you put a dollar into. Your email marketing. So your email campaign is up and running every week. You’re sending content to your email list. What comes next? I’ve read books on this, and it harnesses one of the most powerful social and psychological facts known to man, and that is that we love to do what others are doing. No, let’s just slow down a bit. UGC is king. User generated content is king because it goes into a lot more than motivating someone to do what you want them to do. An example. Before starting this podcast, I was in the market for Mike’s. I went to Amazon. I did not go to Amazon at first. What I did was I went to Google, I searched on Google best podcast mics. All right, when I went to Google and I searched best podcast mics, blog posts come up. Now, that would be the content. That would be the content phase. Now, I clicked on the link, I went to a website that would be the Conversion Optimized website. Well, they didn’t have an email list, but if you if it’s your website, given that you’re listening to this podcast, you would have an email list on this website. They gave me a list of different mics that I could consider. Shore SMV seven. SMB seven. The MV seven. They talk about the blue yeti? The HyperX, solarcast Procast, dual cast, all of them. So there were a list of mics, and I looked at them from this blog post, going over to Amazon, checking out the prices. When I went to Amazon, I looked for UGC user generated content. And the way that I did this on Amazon was that I scrolled down to the bottom of the page and I started reading the reviews. I have a habit of reading the bad reviews because, like we discussed in episode one, in episode one, we talked about online businesses, and it says that 90% of people will refrain from leaving a bad review. Only 1% of people leave bad reviews. And I even gave an example with myself that I don’t leave bad reviews unless it’s a really terrible experience. So I try to read the bad reviews because it does two things for me. It tells me how bad things could be if they don’t work out. That’s like setting the expectations. And two, it tells me what those people think that really had a bad experience or they did not like what happened. So from the bad, I can measure all good things can get. And that’s UGC. Most of the reviews are positive. And what I’ve done, by the way, I went with the HyperX Solo cast. And when the studio we’re building a studio, guys, it’s going to be awesome. You’re going to love it. The podcast will be in video. We’ll be doing more content on YouTube, but it’s not there yet. We will be upgrading to maybe the short SMV Seven. Well. Learned this from the MV seven. Short MV Seven. We learned this from the blog. Again, this would be you, right? And it’s going to be awesome. So what I’ve done is I read the bad reviews. After I read the bad reviews, I read the good reviews and I’m like, all right, this is the worst that it could possibly get. This is as good as it can get. I bought two mics. I bought two mics, guys, because I was convinced. And the reason why I was convinced is because the mic had over 45,000 reviews. I kid you not. Go to Amazon HyperX Solo Cast. That’s the mic I’m using right now. Cheap mic, right? But it’s pretty awesome. As you can hear, over 45,000 reviews. I did not read all of them. I read a few. I saw the five stars or four stars out, all right? And I’m satisfied with my purchase. How can you use this? Get reviews, get testimonials, get feedback. Your reviews, positive and negative are helpful. Let’s start with the negative because those are the most important ones. The negative reviews tell you how to get better. And any business that is getting better at something even incrementally smaller is a business that’s growing and that’s thriving. And the positive reviews, not yet done with negative reviews. The negative reviews are also your opportunity to get a client or customer for life. Example. Let’s say I bought the HyperX solo cast. I bought it from the actual HyperX website, which, mind you, it’s a shopify website. Think about that. Huge company like that has a website, and I’m purchasing from the website, not Amazon. Let’s say I had a bad experience and I posted that Mike came, it was broken. It sounds terrible. Waste of money doing for bad. IREX at that point could reach out and say to me, all right, JBZ, we see your view. What can we do to make things better? What are the problems? We will talk with our product development team. Our engineers will get things better. At that point, I’m no longer fuming. I’m interested because most times people post negative reviews because they want attention and that’s just how it goes, right? I would have gotten some attention. That’s what I wanted. And if it’s not attention I wanted, I would have gotten a solution, because now I can say to them that the mount came broken and I can’t use the mic without a mount. I don’t know. Let’s say that the audit just isn’t clear and they can say, well, one in every thousand mic does get defective because of production. Yada, yada, yada. We’ll send you over a replacement. We’ll send over replacement. Matter of fact, we’ll upgrade you to our IPOX broadcast IPX, if you’re listening, I would love that. And you tell us what you think when they send over that new mic. It’s one mic. It’s not going to send them into bankruptcy. I am not a user for life because my problem was addressed. I was respected, I felt important. And that is how you get a customer for life. I think I should do an episode on this, an entire episode on how to resolve conflicts with clients and customers. So you can have an episode for life, right? When I started Zelhan, it was first called Cyber Dream Developers. And the very first client we started with over five years ago, almost six years, is still my client today. I have not lost a client. Imagine that. So if it’s a client for, like, actual client, not a oneoff project, I’ve never lost one. I got fired from my first client of my very first client, and from that, I haven’t lost one. So I’ll actually spill the beans on that. And that is what it comes down to, right? User generated content reviews testimonials you get them, you post them on your website, you post them on your Google My Business, post them on social media, use videos in your promotional material of users saying how it felt using your product, and that will get you the most clients, customers and sales you can think of. Matter of fact, if you don’t have reviews, consider working for free just to get the review. After you get the review, you start to charge a fee and you can work for free. You can work cheap. Get reviews, guys. It’s the most powerful thing in closing a sale, because you’re not the one saying how good you are at this stage. It is someone else that’s vouching for you and saying, this person helped me. This business helped me. This was my fear when I was going to consider, and this is how it’s been dealt with. Number six and the end of our video coming up rather quickly. Repeat what works and scale. Now, the reason why I say to repeat what works and scale is because, like I started with is that you’re not going to be an expert. You’re not going to know the best time to post on Instagram, how many times to post, the best way to write a blog post. None of that you know how to help your clients or customers by putting this information out there. You know what they need most by the statistics that comes back. If it’s a blog post, which blog post is getting the most clicks per month, the most views? Which blog post is driving the most leads? You can learn this from our YouTube channel to use Google Analytics and all of that. And if it’s social media, what has the most engagements as like shares and comments? If it’s podcast, which has the most downloads, or listens, if it’s YouTube, which has the most views and shares and likes and comments, that will tell you what works. And when you figure out what works, double down on what works. And that means that if you posted a blog that’s getting 25% of your traffic out of 30 blogs, write more blogs that we are on topics like that and see what happens. That’s just how it is. Because now you’re understanding what your clients need, what your ideal prospects want, and how to communicate with them. Scale means that you start doing more of that good thing and less of the other stuff that aren’t working. Pareto Efficiency wilfred Pareto, Italian economist found that 80% of the economy’s wealth in Italy at the time was concentrated in 20% of the populace. That is still true today. In terms of you will find that 80% of your revenues, your website traffic, your inquiries, your conversions are coming from 20% of your blog posts, your clients, your customers, your products and stuff like that. And that means that when you find your 80%, you double down on the 80%. Well, you find the 20% that’s driving the 80% of your results. You start to do more of that 20% to get better results. And that’s what it comes down to guys. It will take you about six months to a year. That’s the time I recommend you sign up for, and then from there, everything will be okay.
